Zechariah 14:9

The true King Jesus

The Lord will be king over the whole earth. On that day there will be one Lord, and his name the only name. 

Dear Reader,

I’m sure, you will have recognized immediately who is depicted on the Australian stamp. It shows the young royal couple Queen Elizabeth II and her Prince Consort Philip. The occasion was the visit of the British monarch in 1954, and the stamp reads “Royal Visit”. This is because Elizabeth II was not only Queen of the Kingdom of Great Britain but also Head of the British Commonwealth. On her journey through the Commonwealth, she not only visited Australia, but also Commonwealth countries in Asia, India and Africa. 

The prophet Zechariah also speaks of a United Kingdom. He sees in the distant future when God will be king over all the lands. His kingdom will be greater than the British Empire. It will be greater than all the kingdoms that have ever existed. God ´s Kingdom will encompass the entire globe! 

When Jesus Christ is interrogated by the Roman regional Governor Pilate, Jesus says: “I am a king. I was born and came into the world to reveal the truth and to stand as a witness to it. Whoever is interested in the truth listens to me.”

Can you imagine a world in which there is only truth? A world in which there is no more lying and deception. God hates lies. Because lies destroy trust. Jesus says of the devil in the Gospel of John, chapter 8 verse 44, that the devil is the father of lies. Jesus says: “He (the devil) was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his own native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.”

God's kingdom, which will one day encompass the whole world, will be a kingdom of truth. The Lord Jesus Christ will reign. For He is the way, the truth and the life (John 14:6). Anyone who belongs to Jesus Christ is already a citizen of the kingdom of truth. Those who open their lives to Jesus Christ experience a truly royal visit. With Jesus Christ, the truth comes into your life. If you open your Bible and listen to what Jesus Christ says, then you will receive a royal visit!
